tile cleaning/maintenance products. Dal-Tile Corporation provides the

recommends the use of safety glasses, respirators (masks) and gloves in
handling any materials that contain chemicals.
CERAMIC TILE ROUTINE CARE
Ceramic tiles are easier to keep clean than most other surfaces and
are resistant to many chemicals. However, cleaners used need to be
specified as safe for use on ceramic tile installations (including the
Sweep up or vacuum away loose dirt prior to mopping. We recommend
using a microfiber mop head with a nonhazardous, low VOC, cleaning
chemical. Many cleaning products will require specific dilution rates and
dwell time on the floor for maximum effectiveness. Always follow the
cleaning product manufacturer's recommendations.
Avoid chemicals that contain fluorine compounds as these will damage
ceramic, glass, and stone surfaces.
Dal-Tile Corporation does not recommend the use of cleaners that
do not require rinsing. These can leave a residue that reduces the slip
GROUT HAZE CLEAN UP
It is very important to clean up all grout haze as part of the installation
process. This will most often require several rounds of cleaning with
fresh rinse water. Coordinating tile to grout color combinations are
visually appealing, but can have some special challenges. Grout residue
from these systems can be more difficult to detect. If left to dry, this
residue will not initially be visible, but will act as a "dirt magnet" and
make cleaning more difficult when the floor is in use. If a grout haze is
left to dry, contact the grout manufacturer for instructions on how to
best solve this issue.
ADDITIONAL FACTORS TO CONSIDER
Care should be taken to ensure all dirt and cleaner residue is removed
so that it does not compromise the slip resistance of the tile. Bleaches
and alkaline cleaners can be especially problematic and may require
multiple rinsing applications to remove.
Follow manufacturer's instructions when using cleaning chemicals.
Some of these can be hazardous when mixed together or otherwise
Always use the specified personal protective equipment (PPE) when
using cleaning chemicals.
Commercial applications may require specialized equipment,
chemicals, and procedures.
Squeegee, wipe, or vacuum the floor dry after rinsing.
Always test a small area first, prior to using chemicals on a larger area.
Some cleaning products may leave a slick residue; these need to be

End-use conditions may vary widely so these recommendations may

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Water, oil, grease, etc. create slippery conditions. Floor applications with exposure to these conditions require extra caution in product selection.
Latex modified thin-set recommended for all ColorBody and glazed porcelains.
Strong random shading enhances the natural beauty of many Daltile products. To achieve optimal results of a product with random shading, tiles
should be selected from multiple cartons and shading arrangement planned prior to installation.
Porcelain tiles, special care should be taken when grouting with dark pigmented colors. A grout release is recommended to prevent
finely powdered pigments from lodging in the pores of the tile surface.
Special preparation is needed when installing tiles 20" and larger. Please refer to www.daltile.com/LargeTiles for additional information.
Any rectified series with rectangle sizes should use a 3/16" grout joint when installed in a staggered brick-joint pattern. The overlap should not exceed
33% for any rectangular size.
Pre-grout sealing is recommended when installing all natural stone decorative accents. This prevents grout from staining the stone during the
grouting process, and eases grout clean-up. After installation, sealing of the stone will reduce porosity and increase stain resistance. Use a
penetrating or surface coating type of sealer, depending on desired aesthetic.
Cove base and floor bullnose trim are intended to coordinate with floor field tile in the standard 90-degree installation position.
